Welcome to GLASGOW
If you are an international student at any of the universities or colleges around Glasgow,
Scotland, then this website is for you! We want to help you feel at home during your time
here, meet with other students from around the world, and enjoy some local Scottish
hospitality while you are studying here.

Do visit the 'About Us' page to find out a little more about who we are, and check out the events below to see if
you would like to come along and meet other international students as well as local Scottish people, whilst
learning a bit about Scottish culture.

Loch Lomond Highland Games
in Balloch
Saturday 17th July
10am-5pm
£7 ticket per adult
Highland Games are a special part of Scottish culture. During the day there are various 'games' going
on in the arena which you can look at and enjoy (all the competitors are already selected, you don't have
to compete!). Examples of activities are: Scottish dancing, solo bagpipe, barefoot wrestling, tossing the
cabre, throwing the hammer, 80m sprint, cycling, tug of war, plus massed pipe bands in afternoon, and
much more! You can buy something to eat and drink at the games.
Travel Details: Catch 09:23 train from Queen Street Station to Balloch Station (final stop).
A Day Return ticket costs about £5. Allow 15 mins to buy tickets. Journey time is 47 mins. At Queen
Street the train leaves from the lower level going Westbound - look for Balloch on the front of the train.
You can also catch it from High Street 09:18, Charing Cross 09:25, or Partick 09:30.
Highland Games are 5 mins walk from Balloch station.
Trains return every half an hour at 23/53 mins past the hour.
Nigel and Jan will be there to meet you at Balloch train station when you arrive at 10:10.
You can always come on your own later.
Optional extra: If you want to take a 1 hr boat ride on Loch Lomond you can do this for only £7
extra!
For Free: you are welcome to return to the home of Nigel and Jan for some tea and cakes.
Meet at the Balloch station at 4pm. You can return to Glasgow by 7pm.

There is also a Glasgow-wide International Students
Christian Fellowship which is open to all interested university
students in the city of Glasgow) from 7pm-9pm every Friday held in the University of
Strathclyde's Chaplaincy building (90 John Street, opposite the Student Union, near George Square).
This is a group where students can come to to study the Bible together,
meet other Christian students, sing, share any needs for prayer and pray together, followed by some
refreshments (snacks and hot drinks) and a chance to get to know each other better. Everyone is
invited, even if you're not a Christian and you just want to find out more, your very welcome.
